Opening the doorway to your mind!

Dream-Initiated Lucid Dreams (DILDs)

A DILD, is nothing more than a Lucid Dream that starts from the dream state. No specific technique is used to induce it. You simply realize through testing yourself, that you are dreaming and are now aware of it.

It is important that you learn to perform what is known as critical state testing. While it sounds somewhat mysterious, it is in fact nothing more than asking yourself if you are awake or dreaming multiple times a day. This not only get you into the habit of asking, but also serves as a reminder to actually take a moment and check to see if you are awake or dreaming.

If you simply shrug this testing off, asuming you are obviously awake, you may well find yourself in the dream state, but unwilling to accept that you are dreaming, thereby missing an opportunity to explore your dream world.

Look around your environment for things that might be out of place. Even slight changes in your surroundings, such as the carpet in your room being a different shade, would be a fairly obvious sign that you are actually dreaming.

Another good test is to think back over the various things that have happened in the past few minutes. If you do not remember, it could also be a sign you in the dream state.

There is not single right or wrong way to test if you are dreaming. You should find what works best for you through experimentation. If you jump intending to fly and you either start flying or simply hang there, you are dreaming.

Some people use a reading test in which they find a book, newspaper or magazine and read a paragraph from it. Shift your attention to something else around you for a moment, then look back at the paragraph. Has the wording changed? What about the paper color? Either would be a good sing that you are dreaming.

Another method if you use a digital watch is to look at the time, then look away for a moment. When you look back, has the time moved forward or backward more than the few seconds you have looked away?

For many people, feeling the need to verify whether you are awake or dreaming is usually a good sign that you are dreaming, because you have already sensed something that is cluing you to the fact you are dreaming.
